Hardware Requirements Policy

The terms below are incorporated into, and form an integral part of, the Ability Commerce Terms of Service. Unless otherwise defined herein, capitalized terms shall have the meaning as described in the Terms of Service. Any breach of the terms below will be deemed a material breach of the Terms of Service.

The following hardware peripheral requirements are relevant in the event COMPANY is using the related Ability OMS functionality (e.g., Warehouse Peripherals; Point-of-Sale Peripherals).

1. WAREHOUSE PERIPHERALS.

  • Workstation Scanner for Returns Processing and Verifying Orders: USB Automatic Barcode Scanner Scanning Barcode Bar-code Reader (Barcode scanner must be able to read the Code 39 Barcode).
  • Optional Integrated Shipping Software Set-up:

    The integrated shipping software setup requires an ODBC connection to the Ability OMS database from the Shipping Software.

    Basic shipping station set-up documentation will be provided to COMPANY for their shipping software set-up (e.g., UPS WorldShip ®, FedEx ® Ship Manager, Endicia, Stamps.com , Ship Station, and many others).

    Shipping station software set-up may require assistance from Ability Commerce, dependent on the customer’s knowledge of setting up and using the software itself.

    In this event, a separate Statement of Work for the billable to COMPANY hours is required (5 to 10 hours estimated).

    For companies that have contracted Ability Commerce to assist with the Ability OMS Implementation, Integrated Shipping Software Set-up will be included in the quoted Implementation service.

    Note: Ship orders manually module in ABILTY OMS is available for all companies at no charge.
  • Barcode Printer: Zebra Technologies Printer with Link-OS® v6.7 or later installed and Ethernet Port for Networking.
  • RF (Radio Frequency) Warehouse Module Requirements:
    • Wireless network in the warehouse
    • Zebra RF barcode scanners: Contact Ability Sales for supported Zebra RF models.
2. POS WORKSTATION HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS.

Ability OMS includes Point-of-Sale (POS) functionality.

PC:
  • Windows 7, 8 & 10 64-bit Operating System
  • 3.2 Ghz Processor (or faster)
  • 8 GB Ram Memory (or higher)
  • 100 GB Hard Drive (or larger)
Peripherals:
  • Receipt Printer: Epson TM-T88V Receipt Printer Model M244A (Network Enabled Printer using TCP/IP with RJ-45 Connection for the Cash Drawer)
  • Cash Drawer: ANGEL POS 16-Inch Automatic POS Cash Drawer (24V RJ11 port supports opening by Receipt Printer)
  • Scanner: USB Automatic Barcode Scanner Scanning Barcode Bar-code Reader (The barcode scanner must be able to read the Code 39 Barcode).
  • Ability OMS is integrated with the Verifone family of EMV devices. Verifone Engage device model numbers currently supported include (subject to change):
    • P400
    • M400
    • E285
COMPANY is required to purchase Verifone devices directly from Verifone.

COMPANY must have the Verifone EMV devices in-house for implementation.

Payment Processor Support.
3. ADDITIONAL NOTES.

  • Gift Cards.
    • Visa / MC etc. Gift Cards are processed through the Verifone EMV device as Credit Card payments.
    • In a POS environment, Internal Gift Cards cannot be processed through the EMV device, however, Ability OMS does support the use of Internal Gift Cards without a magnetic strip on the Internal Gift Card for scanning. Internal Gift Cards are required to have a 3 of 9 gift card barcode (UPC) to allow POS users to scan the Internal Gift Card using an item scanner. Internal Gift Card can also be manually entered.

      Store Gift Card the payment is processed as a “IGC” Internal Gift Card payment method. Refer to Ability OMS online documentation for additional information on Internal Gift Cards.

  • Ability OMS POS requires:
    • An Ability OMS Named User License is required for each user using Ability OMS POS.
    • Minimum version of Ability OMS.

  • Hardware Setup Option. If needed by COMPANY in support of specific Ability OMS functionality with a requirement for a separate hardware purchase (e.g., Point-of-Sale; RF use), while not required by Ability Commerce therefore not included in the Quote, Ability Commerce offers the option for an Ability Commerce team member to be onsite at COMPANY’s location to perform hardware setup.

  • Printers.

    Printers that are to be configured as default to perform specific tasks (e.g., printing packing slips in the warehouse; printing customer invoices) require the printer(s) to have eprint capabilities.

    Printers with E-services capability (the Printer has an email address for Ability SOFTWARE to send files to print automatically).
